Pets and Hardwood Flooring

One of the questions I often get asked is if Hardwood flooring is pet friendly. The answer is 7701202266_ac8be560d2_ka simple yes! Hardwood is an extremely durable and resilient flooring choice. However, there are a few things to remember when you have hardwood floors and pets.
1. The first thing is to keep your pets nails trimmed. Long and sharp nails could potentially scuff or scratch your hardwood floor. It is recommended you trim your pets nails or claws every 3-5 weeks, depending on your pet. After you safely trim the pets nails or claws remember to file down any sharp edges as these may scratch your flooring. 2. The second thing you want to do is make sure you clean any spills or puddles you pet may cause as soon as possible. While the finish on your floor is extremely durable, the joint may absorb liquids if left for a period of time. This can cause swelling and potentially damage the floor.
3. The third thing to remember is to NOT make the hardwood a play place for your pet. This not only could damage the floor, but could injure your pet as the floor does not allow your pet sure footing under play conditions.
4. So these are my recommendations to keeping a beautiful hardwood floor, a safe and healthy pet and a happy home.
